People to Inform

When a tenancy agreement is to be signed and the term of let is to start shortly then you must contact these companies quickly to let them know that the Tenant is now responsible for the bills from a certain date. Do not get caught out as rectifying this can be costly in terms of your hours spent clearing up the situation.

A problem that Landlords often face is the previous Tenants may have changed the suppliers and they do not know who is the new supplier

Council Tax

Likewise you need to tell your local Council Tax Department that a new Tenant has moved in and the start date. Should a Landlord fail to inform council who the Tenants are it is very common for them to chase the Landlord for the Council Tax Debt. This is why your tenancy should define who is responsible for what at the outset in the tenancy. See Council Tax Notification New Tenants at the address
