Ibrahim Ahmed, 24, launched a knife attack on his landlord at the man’s front door, and the victim survived only because nearby passers-by intervened.

A 24-year-old tenant has been jailed for 21 years after attempting to kill his landlord in a violent incident.
Ibrahim Ahmed, of Field Way in Croydon, south London, was convicted of attempted murder following a seven-day trial.
The court heard that the landlord, a man in his 40s, sustained life-threatening injuries during an unprovoked knife attack near his home in February.
Prosecutors said the victim had just returned from work when Ahmed confronted him at his doorstep and stabbed him before running away.
Members of the public discovered the victim collapsed in the road near his Croydon home and gave first aid until emergency crews reached the scene. One of the injuries was serious enough to cause a collapsed lung.
Ahmed received a 21-year prison term, followed by five years on licence, and must serve at least 14 years before he can be considered for release.
Detective Constable Simona Stankute, who was in charge of the investigation, said: “We hope today’s sentence will provide a sense of justice to the victim, who has shown exceptional bravery throughout this investigation.”
The senior investigator in the case, Detective Inspector Danielle, said: “I’d also like to echo the sentiments by my colleague about the residents who provided first aid to the victim, and also offer my thanks to our colleagues in the London Ambulance Service.
“Without their timely and expert care, the victim could have certainly lost his life.”
