Angela aged 72 and Elizabeth Treneer 38, jointly owned the letting agency Premier Property Management in Truro, Cornwall.
Elizabeth Treneer has already pleaded guilty to charges of perverting the court of justice and operating a fraudulent business. Her mother Angela recently changed her earlier plea to being guilty of fraudulently abusing her duties as a letting agent and taking £10,000 from the company as a 'personal reward' from the ill gotten gains.
In 2017 the BBC accused Premier Property Management of owing tenants and landlords at least £35,000.
When the BBC journalist spoke to Ann Treneer she refused to comment on the accusation, but did contact him back later saying she would send the money back to her clients, and claiming it was 'ring fenced' in another account: this it did not happen.
The letting agency had already been reported to The Property Ombudsman by several landlords who were owed money before the BBC report appeared. The TPO expelled Premier Property Management because of their failure to pay landlords owed rent and for delays in handing over deposits.
The agency did not respond to any of the TPO's correspondence and ignored seven compensation awards that it was ordered to pay.
The Cornwall Trading Standards started an investigation which was further escalated upon uncovering even more instances of monies being scammed from clients.
The mother and daughter are due to appear in court later in the month and have been warned they will be given prison sentences.
