The Generation Rent activist group is now recruiting a new Research and Engagement Officer whose responsibilities will include building relationships with landlord groups.
The £37,500 remote role includes outreach to key stakeholders such as elected officials, media, unions, and local authorities, as part of the group’s wider campaign infrastructure to: “Support Generation Rent’s general campaigning work by seeking out and building relationships with allies including politicians, journalists, tenant unions, landlord groups, trade unions and local authorities.”
The post also involves fundraising, corporate engagement, and targeted research to address evidentiary gaps in policy advocacy and will fill “gaps in the case for policy change”.
The role includes developing and implementing a strategy to engage private renters, using digital platforms and other outreach methods to encourage active involvement in the group’s campaigns as it will “inspire them [tenants] to take action.
The lengthy list of responsibilities also include coordinating Generation Rent’s campaign to improve voter registration rates among private renters, including “working with decision-makers around the forthcoming Elections Bill.”
