The Ministry of Justice's latest figures show that the number of tenants being evicted by private landlords is on the decrease.

The four actions landlords take to repossess their properties has fallen in the second quarter of 2019 against the same period last year.
Possession claims for April - June this year was 26,695, which fell by 9% year on year, possession orders hit 21,384, 6% lower year-on-year, warrants fell by 4% -21,384, and the number of repossessions for the period was 7,428 which fell by 10%.
The Ministry of Justice's figures also show that 58% of claims were from social landlords, 19% were accelerated claims, with private landlords accounting for 6,079 claims - 23%.
The MoJ report said: “Since the same quarter last year, the proportion of private landlord claims increased by 2%, whereas accelerated claims decreased by 2% and social landlord remained stable. The fall in landlord possession claims is across all regions, with the largest actual decrease seen in Midland and London courts."
