The Capital boasts twice as many new Build-to-Rent developments in progress than the rest of the United Kingdom.
The government’s scheme is a partnership with developers to build rentable ‘homes’. London has 14,276 housing units that are going through the planning process, being built and those which are finished – whereas the rest of the UK can only muster 7,112 going through the processes. The figures have just been released by the BPF (British Property Foundation).
A residential fund manager of an Investment Management Company, Andrew Standford, said: “The momentum behind Build to Rent continues. It is moving firmly beyond theory and into reality. With continued support from both national and local government this progress can continue. The growing number of long-term institutional investors in the sector will then find a suitable home for their capital, ensuring that housing supply and tenant choice can increase.”
