A Rugby lettings agent is telling landlords that they are missing a large market of  potentially good tenants by not allowing pets.

The Dogs Trust is claiming that nearly 50%  of the population have a pet, we have to ask does that include cats and goldfish ?

The lettings manager says that there are so many potentially good tenants who cannot find landlords who will let them rent their properties, when they declare they have a pet. 

The spokesperson said: “Finding rental homes for people that have pets is becoming an increasingly difficult task.

“More and more prospective tenants are only looking for properties that will allow pets and this is narrowing down their options considerably.”

She also said: “As letting agents we will always support our landlord or buy-to-let investor’s best interests.

“Many tenants are renting for longer and expect to pay more for their pet to live with them so this is a great situation for our rental landlords to take advantage of."

Now it is all well and good allowing a tenant to have pets as these people are seen to be loving. That is great for the pets however in some cases owners can be less than loving or proud of their domicile, as it is not theirs. At the end of the day it can be landlords who are left to foot the bill for cleaning up any mess......... and nobody else
