Research from a lender claims that 75% of the landlords polled, believed that their tenants will not get into any more trouble with rental arrears, in the next twelve months. This is in spite of possible rent increases as rental arrears are remaining stable.
In the research the lender received feedback that in the 2nd Quarter of this year, that there was a 4% increase of landlords who believed that rent arrears had remained the same.
During this third quarter, only 8% of landlords believed that rental arrears would increase.
Because of the general optimism, 17% of the polled landlords were considering increasing their portfolio in the next three months. Terraced and semi detached properties were high on the agenda with 38% of landlords preferring these, whilst 35% were looking at purchasing apartments.
Director of the company, John Heron, said: ‘Landlords continue to experience strong tenant demand and are keen to add to their portfolios. The positive signals being picked up elsewhere around the economy also seem to have flowed through to the PRS with landlords experiencing low arrears and low, stable voids.’
