For once the press is not branding landlord's in the private rented sector as the Grinches during the festive season.
The majority of the tabloids have carried this story in their pages which includes a handwritten by a landlord to his tenants, which they received through their letter box.
The handwritten letter says: "I know you guys have been having trouble being between jobs these past few months and I just wanted to thank you for always being current on the rent.
"So my gift for you and yours is that I’m waiving your December rent so you can give your family a good decent Christmas this year.
"We’ll just pick it back up in January."
"Merry Christmas."
It was simply signed - From Jack.
Richard Merrick, PIMS, says: "At last the national press has covered a positive story about the private rented sector and of course, it is a great and heart warming piece.
" Although the festive season is now upon us, please be ever vigilant for potential problems of rent arrears. It can be a temptation for tenants to overspend on presents and festivities, so just make sure that you are not their banks.
"Be aware of the Universal Credit accelerated roll out, despite the government's retraction of cutting Tax credits, people will receive less when they enrol on the new system. The biggest concern is that housing benefit is being reduced from April next year."
