Merseyside Police and Liverpool Council joined forces to make sure that the eviction of a private renter was enforced because of the tenant’s anti-social behaviour making the local neighbours and the overall community life ‘a nightmare’.
The council had for some time investigated many complaints of anti-social behaviour such as threats, drug dealing, loud music and noisy dogs left in the flat on their own for most of the day causing them to ‘relieve’ themselves.
Both the council and Merseyside Police fully supported the landlord who had served the tenant with a Section 8 notice.
It was also found that groups of men with drug dealing connections and organised crime regularly turned up at the flat.
A council spokesperson says: “Nightmare neighbours can cause untold misery for local communities.
“Working with partners, we can and will take action to evict those whose behaviour is having a detrimental impact on people who live close by.”
The unnamed landlord of the property, in fear of possible retribution, says: “I would like to thank the Council and Merseyside Police for their assistance in this matter. Without their help, I don’t know what I would have done”.
After the landlord was granted possession of the property at a Liverpool Magistrates Court, the bailiffs visited the flat and found the tenant had already left the flat but had wrecked the property causing thousands of pounds of damage.
