‘Time to get big or go home’ is the challenge from a couple planning to expand their portfolio to 5,000 rental homes across the UK.

The couple who are aiming to be one of the UK's largest BTL landlords have laid down their plans for their new business. They intend to buy out property management companies and smaller landlords throughout the UK.
At the moment Graeme and Leanne Carling's newly formed company lets out 300 Scottish homes, but they certainly have big plans to increase the number of properties to 5.000 and to do it “as quickly as possible”.
The couple say they have huge financial backing behind them from UK and overseas investors, and their main efforts will be directed at the owners of property management companies who wish to leave the market. They are also looking for landlords who have had enough of the tax and regulatory changes and want to sell up.
Graeme Carling said: “Those changes have made it difficult for smaller operators to make money in the private rental market. Our argument is that when you have scalability, things are not so costly.
“The funding is in place and we’re ready to go.
“We’re keen to take advantage of the market conditions UK-wide and grow our property business as quickly as possible.
“Our backers are excited by both the market potential and the weak value of the pound, which makes the UK highly attractive investment territory.”
The Carlings' target is to eventually float the company on the stock market.
