Brandon Lewis keeps hold of Housing post despite previous announcement

24th May 2015

Within one day of Mark Francois being named as Brandon Lewis’ successor to the post of Housing and Planning Minister (May 11th), it was announced on the Tuesday 12th that Lewis remains as the Minister

It seems that a mix up has been admitted to by a spokesperson for the communities department. The website’s announcement of the new Housing and Planning Minister has now been changed back; Francois’ position or post in the Cabinet has yet to be decided upon by Cameron. Mark Francois was the former Armed Forces Minister.

The PM has now finished his round of appointments this week; James Wharton has become a junior minister for the ‘Northern Powerhouse’ within the communities department. His post is to rapidly increase jobs and growth in the north.

Matthew Hancock replaces Francis Maude as minister for the cabinet office. Among many ‘interesting’ tasks, he is entailed to reduce the amount of the government’s estate and costs from major public sector construction projects. Prior to becoming an MP, Hancock was employed by the Bank of England and specialised in the housing market.
