Bailiff Evictions Cancelled Forthwith

13th Jun 2023

14 June 2023 - PIMS update - This situation is very fluid - 13th June 2023 County Court Bailiffs carried out the eviction for a PIMS member, 14th June 23 another member informed by email by the courts Eviction cancelled and during a phone called informed our member cannot rebook a date until October. Provided a member call and we shall assist composing a request for variation of order. or see page on pims https://www.pims.co.uk/section_21_appoint_private_bailiff/

We received a call from a member today (1st June) that the bailiff who was due to attend today has been cancelled.

  • On behalf of our member, we spoke with the court to establish if an emergency injunction had been sought to set aside or delay the eviction, for this is the usual reason a bailiff can be cancelled at the last minute.
  • We were informed the cancellation is due to a Health Crisis. We asked if  localised issue and were informed it is a national directive.  It was stated that ALL EVICTIONS IN JUNE SHALL BE CANCELLED NATIONWIDE due to a national health crisis.
  • Others are now reporting this is due to personal safety of Bailiffs [all sounds wishy washy contrived]. We believe Tenant evictions are wilfuly being delayed due to excesive demand created on emergency housing. This situation has arisen because March/April Afghan refugees had been given three months notice to move out of hotel accommodation.
  • 6 June 2023 - This is a very fluid situation and others are now reporting veto only in London. Please let PIMS know if your eviction proceeds or is cancelled so we can update accordingly.

Sadly, this means the Tenants shall now remain in the property, and all we can do is guess – what the hell is happening – but the feedback from the court is that there will be a knock-on impact and that they are not rebooking any further evictions in the diary.
