The West Midlands has the longest average void period of 31 days and of course London 'boasts' the shortest void period of only 12 days.

The company's data also shows that the capital still remains at the top for the longest average fixed term tenancies with 14 months, the runner up is the South East which came in at 12 months.

The areas with the shortest average tenancy durations of only nine months each are the East and West Midlands and the South West.

From each of the regions studied the average age of tenants is in the 30s, with the North West having the lowest average age of 31 and East Midlands with the highest of 36.

The most affordable regions for tenants (in April) were the North West and Wales with London and the South East remaining the most expensive.

In the eight regions that the company monitored across England and Wales monthly rents continued to increase in April, however in the North East and South West rents were found to have fallen; London continues to remain the same.

The full list of average regional follows:

- London £1,652.

- South East £1,009;

- South West £867;

- East Midlands £832;

- North West £774;

- Wales £770;

- West Midland £699;

- North East £618 pcm;
