RIBA (The Royal Institute of British Architects) has outlined their 2015 general election campaign, by calling for the next elected government to sustain 300,000 new homes' build every year.

The general public and architects are being rallied to urge their local candidates to sign a pledge that has six key demands at #BuildaBetterBritain. The demands include - more homes built quickly, healthy environments for older generations, well planned places, flood proof communities and low carbon buildings.

RIBA's manifesto obviously centres around the housing crisis and that the next government must quickly address the UK's predicament. They are also urging that any new homes must be fit for purpose so they are properties that people aspire to live in, rather than having no other option. 

The manifesto also calls that homes should be built with the aging population in mind who are having, or being encouraged  to downsize. They are also calling for new homes to be built with a good communication network. The areas should encourage a healthier lifestyle with better travel options and a greater emphasis towards cycling and walking.

RIBA president Stephen Hodder said: “The built environment is vital to the financial and social success of our communities and country and the health and wellbeing of its inhabitants.
