Standing Order
It is always beneficial to be paid your rent by standing order rather than cheque or cash. Cash flow is more predictive and reduces your time chasing tenants for payment, there is no need to issue receipts and there is no dispute about what was and indeed if it was paid.
Therefore, it is good practice to get the tenant to sign a
Standing Order Form immediately after signing the tenancy. Minimise the likelihood of the classic promise "I'll post the Standing Order to the bank".
This is not to say that you have not made a good choice in tenant but, once a tenant has the keys and has possession of the property, they are no longer as helpful as they once were and will not consider the act of arranging the standing order to be one of priority. Too often tenants promised to complete and return the standing order and simply fail to do so. To avoid this simply complete it in their presence after the signing of the AST.
Good tip have the tenant complete the standing order in your presence, then you take
