Resident Landlord

A Resident Landlord is typically where the landlord and the tenant live in the same building.

This includes: conversions where they live in different parts of the same property (however how long ago the property was converted). Excludes purpose built flats with the landlord and tenant living in different flats.  see [Lodger]

In the majority of cases, where the landlord is resident the tenant [Lodger] does not have a right to challenge the level of rent that they have agreed to pay [via the rent assessment committee.] Where the Landlord is resident the tenant/lodger maybe given no less than 14 days notice to leave - 28 days is recommended in most cases and the Notice should be in writing.
